WHEN looking back at it all, people may have the tendency to think that they had missed out on something in life. A common regret for many tends to revolve around travel and expanding the mind by experiencing a new culture first hand. Those that have gone on a long stint abroad, there is always a problem of coming home without completely curing travelling ‘itchy feet’ syndrome.

For expat Aussie’s, Europe, Asia and now America, have made popular continents to explore via various modes of transportation like car or motorbike so every last corner can be covered.

A Journey into the ‘New’

We all know Australians are notorious for traveling a lot. The United States has become an increasingly popular destination over the years with the currency conversion working in the favour for Australians.

Being a large area of land with many different landscapes and states to cover, a return to America never seems too absurd as it is nearly impossible to cover everything.

The idea of leaving for the US for a year or even semi-permanently to begin a new chapter in life, may sound like an exciting adventure but in reality, winning a visa can be half the challenge. We know ourselves about the bureaucracy and strict immigration laws within our own country. How skilled workers always manage to get a leading start with receiving visas. For most of us though, there is the problem of becoming a complete US citizen. The possibility of winning the green card lottery can be the only chance to get over to America with full working permission and permanent residence. Despite it being a luck of the draw, chances of receiving a green-card are not bad, as every 25th application do have the chance of winning.

Where to get Information

In saying that, everyone has to be prepared for such a big step into the (more or less) unknown.
