In 2011 a record breaking 100,000 fans attended the event, making it one of the top occasions in the London social calendar. This year spectators are encouraged to dig out their flowing flares and don their grooviest afro to enjoy a 1970s disco theme whilst watching some of the world’s fastest, free-flowing rugby.
Having toured eight other countries in the HSBC Sevens World Series, the Marriott London Sevens will be the final and decisive leg, with the victors crowned at Twickenham. Only a 5 point difference separates the current men’s leaders, New Zealand, from Fiji in second place, so the Series is set to come right down to the wire.
With rugby Sevens due to debut at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, the Marriott London Sevens is the perfect opportunity to watch a future Olympic sport in London this summer!
