Justin Ng – Photographer
Justin came to London in search of his dreams five years ago. He swears it had nothing to do with running away from an ex-girlfriend. He still hasn’t grown up or settled down.
Hometown in Australia
South Penrith; home of the mighty Panthers.
Home in the UK
West Hampstead/Kilburn
Experience past and present
Since we stumbled upon Justin at Westminster Abbey, snapping Kevin Rudd and Prince Charles, he has shot numerous front covers for the paper. He has gone on to have his work published with the likes of The Independent and works as an agency photographer, photographing the UK’s top bands. He’s Australian Times’s Mr Reliable and ‘go-to’ man.
My top Australian Times moment
The publisher will probobly tell you that its the roller girls with cupcakes at Shepherd’s Bush Westfield’s 1st birthday, where I apparently
missed High 5 (who aren’t my favourite band!). But the best moment was actually photographing The Australian Twenty20 cricket team and Andrew Symonds just prior to the scandal of his sacking and my photo being used back home by Channel 9 and Channel 10 thanks to ex-editor Dave O’Neil.
Favourite Aussie:
film or TV show: Angel Baby and Life Support
sports teams: The Panthers and The Sydney Kings of the 80s and 90s (RIP)
music: Four way tie between The Models, INXS (pre Michael Hutchence death), Powderfinger and Rumanastone.
snack: Cheezels
What I miss most about home
Good fresh seafood and sandy beaches
My nugget of golden advice for surviving the UK
Be a good dosser and make the most of the sun when its out.
