Checklist for the Ultimate Road Trip in W.A.

Time

Make sure to give yourself extra time for anything unforeseen which may just pop up, as a long trip can be exhausting, especially if you’re not used to it. Road trip planning will require either a map and/or a GPS, whichever you’re happy with, but make sure the maps aren’t ancient and the GPS is updated! If you are thinking of car rental, let them know where you will be going, and they will be more than willing to provide maps, and even extra ideas on where to go during your trip.

Young Ones

Should you be travelling with children, make sure to think about what they will do as you’re driving. Usually, children easily get bored, so have some games or something for them to do available. Children will also occasionally need to stretch their legs, so have a break every couple of hours so they can walk around somewhere. A break will also be good for adults too, especially the driver, who will definitely need a break from driving to ensure staying sharp enough to continue driving safely.

Planning

Make sure to allow enough funds for fuel, food, and accommodation along the way. For a no worries trip, try to make sure and book hotels, motels or campsites in advance. If not, have a back-up plan, just in case of glitches in reservations or a camping area is fully booked. If looking for a reliable and trustworthy rental car offer a service bar none, and with an affordable price to match. Check them out!

Calculate

Contemplate fuel prices, and try calculating how much the trip will cost in your planning phase. Food and refreshments, too, may cost a fair amount of cash on a road trip, so make a daily allowance and make sure to add a little extra cash for unforeseen circumstances. It will also help to budget for pocket money, money perhaps spent on touristy things and other expenses, such as admission to attractions and so on.

Changes

A good idea is to check out if there are things such as building work, toll gates, and also the expected state of the weather along one’s route. This will help to avoid frustration if knowing what to expect. There may be even other routes to circumvent such hassle. A little research in the week or so before your trip will ensure that you can avoid any problematic routes, and hazardous areas that may slow your trip down or add frustrating driving time. Do not be afraid to change your route during the trip, but make sure to go over the alternate route carefully to ensure you won’t get lost or too far off track! Have a great trip and make sure to drive carefully!
