Tsitsipas has been doing quite well so far in his recent games and a comment by his opponent did not go unnoticed. However, Tsitsipas is letting tennis speak for itself rather than letting his mouth do the talking.
While Djokovic, Medvedev, and Zverev have rightly earned their spot in the top 3, Tsitsipas is saying that it is unrealistic or rather presumptuous to say that they would continue to dominate the tennis sport in 2022.
According to Bega District News, Djokovic won three of the four grand slam crowns in 2021, Medvedev captured his first at the US Open while Zverev snared the Olympic gold medal and a second season-ending championship in three years.
According to Tsitsipas, all of the players should play their best tennis and see how that goes instead of being comfortable with their previous results. This is precisely what should happen as Stephans point doesn’t prove to be far-fetched.
“Look, we have a long year ahead of us. Let us all play our best tennis, and let’s see who is the one that deserves it at the end of the year.”
A wounded Tsitsipas also opened up about the Australian Open Tournament taking place this month. After undergoing elbow surgery in November, Stephan is unsure of what his next performance will look like.
“That was one of the biggest concerns – if I’m going to play this match today – how is the recovery going to be tomorrow?”
