ON the back of the successful inaugural Oztag Australia tour to the UK, excitement is again building amongst the London Tag Rugby community as Try Tag Rugby look to turn up the heat in Malta.
The Try Tag Rugby All-Stars will be competing at the inaugural Malta International Tag Rugby Festival on Saturday 6 August at the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Hamrun. Everyone in the Try Tag Rugby All-Star squad are current representative players and playing against the world’s best, Oztag Australia, a fortnight ago is only going to put the side in good stead.
With Maltese temperatures averaging a sunny 30 degrees, the London based All-Stars will be competing against sides from Scotland, France, Croatia and Malta. Some of these players will be playing Tag Rugby for the first time but come from very high level rugby backgrounds.
The Try Tag Rugby All-Stars are the current Rochdale International Tag Rugby Festival champions which took place in May. They are also the defending Bull N Booze Tag Rugby Festival champions in Bruff, Ireland from 2010.
Meanwhile, late summer Tag Rugby competitions are now approaching round five this week. Teams still undefeated include, The Spy Who Tagged Me (Canada Water), Dirty Flankers, Softball Was Full (Wandsworth), Mixed Bag (Highbury), D.T.F (Tooting Bec), Foxhounds (Hoxton), Saints & Taggers (Finsbury Park) and Tag Me If You Can (Canada Water).
Tag Me If You Can are on a record 27 match winning streak and will be a team to reckon with at the 2011 GOAL London Tag Rugby Championships to be held at Grasshoppers RFC, Osterley 20 August.
It’s still not too late to sign up as an individual or with a group of friends as some competitions still have limited space available.
