Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez muzed about Australia calling the country a “spectacular” place.
The team is in Melbourne preparing Saturday night’s International Champions Cup opener against AS Roma. the game is being hosted by the MCG stadium in Melbourne.
Coach Benitez praised Australians on the Real Madrid website, saying Australia provided Los Merengues with the perfect pre-season environment.
“There’s a culture centred around sport and hard work,” he said.
“At this moment in time, it’s good for us to be able to increase the time we’ve spent together and on the pitch,” and added that the chilly conditions in Melbourne this week saying it made training easier for his team.

Reports have been confirmed that Fabio Coentrao will not feature in the International Champions Cup for Real Madrid after suffering a thigh injury while on his holidays.
“The fact that it isn’t as hot as in other places means that you can really work hard, and it’s a great help to us that the pitch is in the right condition,” Benitez said.
Real Madrid will begin its ICC participation against AS Roma at the iconic MCG, followed by a clash with Manchester City on Friday week.
