Zachary Rolfe was found not guilty on all charges against him

Zachary Rolfe has not been convicted of any crime in his final court hearing. This court case has been coming along since 2019 when the tragic event first took place.

NT Officer Zachary Rolfe found not guilty

The family of Kumanjayi Walker believes that officer Zachary Rolfe has lied to the court in order to make his case look better.

In the testimony of Zachary Rolfe, he relayed that he acted in the best interest of his partner. Rolfes partner was stabbed with medical scissors. He then felt that their lives were threatened. Thus, Rolfe fired his gun at him three times. And confirms his justification thereof in the tragic shooting.

Before his arrest, Kumanjayi threatened two officers. He allegedly threatened them with an ax. This was caught on a body cam. This arrest was in line with this offense. During his arrest, a struggle broke out with Zachary Rolfe and led to horrific consequences.

Prosecutors believe that Zachary was justifying actions that were wrong

In the trial, prosecutors argued that officer Zachary Rolfe did not act in accordance with his police training and should have used a non-lethal weapon to detain the individual.

Many individuals in the community of Yuendumu have expressed their frustrations. They do not want any more shootings of black people in their community. The community also believes that the second and third shots by officer Zachary Rolfe were not necessary.

According to ABC News, officer Zachary was only on trial for the second and third shots fired. Additionally, officer Rolfe believes that he has acted in the safety of himself and his partner.

Furthermore, it is alleged that Kumanjayi reached out for a gun. It is with this argument that Rolfe justified his second and third shots on Kumanjayi. Right now, the family feels that justice did not prevail. They believe more should be done.
