#YouAintNoMuslimBruv response to London Tube ‘terror’ stabbing attack

The unprovoked stabbing attack on the Tube over the weekend has drawn a very London response from the capital’s commuters.

Social media users are posting comments and images with the hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv to express their defiance in the face of the violence which police have described as a “terrorist incident”.

The hashtag has apparently even been adopted by some Tube staff.

The attack occurred inside Leytonstone Tube station at around 7pm on Saturday. One man was seriously hurt but now understood to be in a stable condition. Another man reportedly received minor injuries.

Photos and video of the attack were captured by shocked commuters.

Witnesses reported seeing a man wielding a knife and shouting “this is for Syria!”. As terrified passengers screamed at the attacker to drop the knife, one person is understood to have shouted back to him, “You aint no Muslim, bruv!” – the response that has become a hashtag.

A 29-year-old man, who was tasered by police at the scene, is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
