University of NSW issues security warning after 4chan threat

Staff and Students at the University of New South Wales have been alerted to a security threat at its Kensington campus.

UNSW says it is taking the threat seriously and liaising with the anti-terrorism arm of the NSW Police as well as their Local Area Command.

The university has reportedly emailed students to alert them to the threat, but so far has stopped short of ordering students to avoid the campus. It is also posting updates on it Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Police are investigating the threat, described as ‘non-specific’.

According to Pedestrian.TV, the alert follows a post made by an anonymous user on 4chan, the same online forum on which a message was posted warning of the campus shootings in Oregon, USA earlier this month.
