Rolf Harris due back in court

AUSTRALIAN entertainer Rolf Harris is due back in court on Tuesday charged with multiple sexual offences dating to the 1960s.

The 83-year-old is expected to appear at Southwark Crown Court in London for a plea and case management hearing ahead of his trial, provisionally scheduled to begin in April.

Harris faces 16 charges, including 12 counts of sexual assault relating to four alleged victims. His lawyer has previously indicated the artist and singer will plead not guilty to all counts.

The Australian initially faced 13 charges before prosecutors last month added three more counts of indecent assault involving two new alleged victims, including a girl “aged seven or eight in 1968 or 1969”.

Harris was already facing six counts of indecently assaulting a 15-year-old girl in 1980 and 1981, and three charges of indecent assault of a girl aged 14 in 1986.

He was also charged previously with four counts of making indecent images of a child in the first half of 2012.

Harris last appeared in court in a hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court in September.

He has not commented on the allegations since he was first named in the press in April.
