Qantas takes delivery of new Dreamliner for non-stop Australia to London flights [VIDEO]

Qantas’s promise of non-stop flights from Australia to London are about to become a reality.

The iconic Australian airline this week unveiled its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner jet, set to fly direct from Perth to London.

The Ten news clip above shows proud Qantas CEO Alan Joyce overseeing a Qantas Dreamliner in its final assembly at the Boeing factory near Seattle in the USA. The plane is in several sections which are assembled over just a few hours at what is said to be the world’s biggest factory.

Qantas has ordered eight of the new Boeing 787-9s for its fleet.

The state-of-the-art aircraft gives Qantas range it has never before been able to offer, says Joyce, making it capable of doing the 14,500km journey from Perth in Australia to London in the UK, non-stop.

Boeing’s Dreamliner is fitted with all the latest tech, right down to humidity control and lighting that will ease the dreaded jetlag which Australia-London passengers know better than anybody.

Qantas’s first Dreamliner 787-9, officially named ‘Great Southern Land’, is scheduled to touchdown in Australia later this week.

The new planes will be restricted to Australian domestic duties for the next few months with long-haul services due to commence from December.
