As part of his one-month Australian secondment, Prince Harry is serving with Indigenous North West Mobile Force (NORFORCE) soldiers and visited a remote aboriginal community in Western Australia.
The Wuggubun community is approximately 70 kilometres from the Northern Territory border, just south of Kununurra in the Kimberley region.
In his hour-long visit to the small community, residents took photos with the Prince.
Wuggubun community member Barry Truss reflected on the visit, calling the Prince, a “really delightful chap”.
“It was pretty exciting, especially for the kids,” he told the media. “We weren’t expecting him and he just rocked up with NORFORCE.”
The community invited him back to visit. “He’d love to – he said he’d love to live out this way, to get away from all the media,” said Truss.
Prince Harry flew into Kununurra on 7 April and went fishing on 8 April at the Diggers Rest cattle station. He will also spend time with SAS commandos in Perth.
If he passes military testing at the Australian Army’s Sydney-based 6th Aviation Regiment, he will be allowed to fly their helicopters.
