Julie Bishop gets her emoji on, shedding light on international relations and Tony Abbott’s spirit

Julie Bishop has shared her thoughts on international relations, spirit animals and her preference for cats over dogs in an unusual ‘interview’. In what Buzzfeed has claimed is a world first her answers to the probing questions, all asked via sms text, were given in emojis…

Things started off rather tame, with Bishop being asked what her spirit animal is, to which she answered with a monkey emoji…The foreign affairs minister designated Prime Minister Tony Abbott a running man for his spirit emoji while Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull, the man who last week was touted to challenge Abbott for the top job in a leadership spill, just got an iPhone…

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who Bishop came toe-to-diplomatic-tow with over the downing of flight MH17, got the red-faced angry emoji…

Bishop described Australia’s current relationship with the US with the following emoji arrangement…

And according to Bishop, Australia’s relationship with China is likewise grooving…

But she considered Australia’s relationship with Indonesia to be slightly more troubled considering that the state is set to execute two Australian drug-smugglers

Bishop’s view on marriage equality was “open hands”, and the one emoji she can’t do without, is a kiss…

And to the million dollar question: does Bishop want to be Prime Minister one day? She remained diplomatically tight lipped…
