It’s over: Mariah Carey and James Packer bust up confirmed

"Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future,” say reps for Mariah Carey after big split with James Packer in Greece.

Representatives for Mariah Carey have confimed reports of a major split in the relationship between her and her Aussie billionaire fiance, James Packer.

“Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together,” the representative said in a statement.

Rumours have been circulating for months that not all was well between the glamour couple.

On Thursday, Australian magazine Woman’s Day reported that their engagement was over, citing unnamed sources.

It was alleged Packer had dumped the multi-Grammy winning performer after a fight in Greece over “her new reality TV show Mariah’s World and extravagant spending” last month.

However, in the statement released later on Thursday, Carey’s rep denied there was friction over spending and insisted there were no allegations of cheating either. But they did confirm that the couple had been apart since the row in Greece.

“Mariah and James had a fight in Greece, and have not seen each other since,” the statement read.

“The fight was not because of any cheating allegations or excessive spending by Mariah. James is one of the most successful businessmen in the world. They are trying to work it out.

“Right now, they’re not sure if they will stay together. They are discussing it, and plan to release an official statement together about their future.”

After going public with their relationship in 2015, Packer and Carey celebrated their engagement in January this year with a $10 million diamond ring that the singer said was “so heavy I can’t lift my arm up!”

According to Woman’s Day, James’s mother, Ros Packer, had “struggled to connect with the singer”.

The magazine also claims that Packer will be letting Carey keep the ring.
