While the end result of this activity is wonderful, the actual process is quite frustrating. Not only is this a task that interrupts your daily life, it is an incredibly messy experience at that. More often than not, once you are done coating your home, you are left with splatters, smears, and various other offending marks. As anyone who has tried knows, these are incredibly difficult to remove. Not to mention, the stain removal process can end up damaging the surface below. If you want to avoid this particular situation, follow some of the handy tips below:

Find Conscientious Workers

This cannot be stressed enough and often proves to be the best preventative method that you can take. When hiring workers, make sure to get the Melbourne painters that are right for the job. The best way to do this is to determine their strategy beforehand. Talk to them about how they will go about getting the job done and what materials they will be using to avoid stains and marks. It is also a good idea to make note of what they bring to your home before the painting commences. Make sure that there is plenty of plastic, paper, tape, and all of the other essential items. Now, it is inescapable that there will be drops of colour here and there. Talk to the workers about the methods that they will be using to get rid of these marks.

Protect Adjoining Surfaces

When it comes to splatters, your trim and floor are often the biggest victim of these marks. This is why before you even pick up a brush, you should use painter’s tape or masking tape to seal off these areas. Make sure that you do it as precisely as possible so that there are no unpainted areas when the tape is peeled away. The same goes for the floor. For regular floors, rosin paper works well. It is important to choose a material that is quite thick as this prevents the drips for soaking through too quickly. Nonetheless, if there are any drips, you should wipe them up quickly before they can seep through. For carpeted floors, you really cannot beat canvas sheets. Remember to tape all of the coverings so that they do not shift around as you work.

Secure Your Belongings

The only thing worse than getting paint on your floor is getting on your furniture and other items. One of the first things you should do is to remove as many objects from the room as possible. For those that are too large or heavy, it is imperative that they are still several feet away from the wall. While it can be tempting to simply toss an old sheet above these items, the paint can still seep through and get stuck to the items. Therefore, clear plastic offers you a much better solution. Make sure that all areas are covered and that you tape any loose ends where possible. Keep it this way until all the work is completed.

If you don’t want to clean up a huge mess once the project is over, these are the guidelines that you should follow.
