Heartwarming images of Aussies saving our animals following the bushfires

The bushfire crisis that has engulfed Australia over recent weeks and months has shown the worst that nature can deal out, partly in response to the affect humans are having on the planet.

But it has also brought out the best in human nature when it comes to caring for our beautiful wildlife which have been so savagely affected.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), over 1 billion animals, including Aussie icons like the koala and kangaroo, have tragically perished in the bushfires, perhaps pushing some species to the brink of extinction.

There is hope, though, that we might care enough to save our beloved fauna, as these sad yet wonderful clips and photos demonstrate.
