Five great reasons you should travel to the Philippines

There are thousands of great places in the world to visit and experience, so why choose the Philippines?

Below are some of our favourite reasons to see what this unique, beautiful part of the world has to offer and why you will want to return time and time again.

1 – The hospitality of Filipinos

There are many reasons why tour operators like Kapwa Travel provide individual tours in the Philippines, but one of the main ones is the people themselves. Filipinos are the most kind and friendly people. They are extremely welcoming but also make sure they are respectful. They love to sing and to dance at every occasion and like to include people in celebrations.

2 – Beaches, beaches and more beaches

2

The Philippines is one of the world’s largest island groups. It has an incredible 7,641 islands, each with some of the most beautiful beaches you’ll find anywhere.

Constantly ranked as one of the Top 10 beaches on the planet, the most famous of them all is White Beach in Boracay. White sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters, the Philippines is almost paradise.

But the more experienced and adventurous traveller will find many more gemstones all over the country: there are beautiful beaches in Bohol, Siquijor, El Nido, Davao, and many more places that are worth a visit.

3 – Shop until you drop, then shop some more

The Philippines boasts one of the biggest shopping malls in the world. The shopping malls in Manila are gigantic and Filipinos are crazy about shopping. The biggest mall is the SM Seaside in Cebu which has been opened not long time ago.

Whether you are looking for the latest brands and styles, or something authentically local, you’ll find it among the boutiques and fashion outlets. You will also discover restaurants of all kinds, coffee shops, movie theaters and 3D cinemas, Internet cafes, and day spas. Spending the entire day at the mall is a common Filipino pastime, with people flocking to shopping centres for bargains and air conditioning.

4 – The best kept culinary secret on the planet

Filipino cuisine is not that famous around the globe, but that doesn’t mean the food isn’t fantastic! This country loves food and Filipino dishes are a mix of Malay, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese and American cuisine.

Some of their most common dishes are:

  • Halo-Halo – a dessert made of milk, kidney beans, fruits and ice cream
  • Balut – a boiled egg with a duck embryo inside
  • Sinigang – a tamarind based sour soup
  • Adobo – a dish with chicken, beef or pork cooked with vinegar and soy sauce.

In addition, the Philippines is the place to come if you love fresh seafood. From lobster to crabs, tiger prawns, octopus, you will find it all.

5 – Real adventures

Most people have heard about the beaches and crystal clear waters but the Philippines are a destination for real adventurers. Unlike Thailand or Vietnam, travelling the Philippine islands can often be a bit tricky. Some destinations are really “off the beaten track”, and it takes ages to get to remote places like Dinagat.

There are exciting waterfalls to discover, volcanos to climb, coral reefs to snorkel & to dive, fiestas to celebrate, and many more adventures to experience.

Talk to the team at Kapwa Travel to get your escape to the Philippines underway.
