Ernest Shackleton: The captain’s ship found 100 years later

Ernest Shackleton is famously known for saving his crew from the sinking ship Endurance in the year 1914. A group of men had undergone search for the ship and was ecstatically successful at finding it.

Ernest Shackleton ship was found a century later

Previously, a search was conducted for the Endurance ship but was unfortunately unsuccessful. This time around, the director of the Endurance22 expedition and the rest of the team were successful in their attempt to find the lost ship.

The ship was found approximately 3008 meters south of the initial point logged by the then captain, Ernest Shackleton. This expedition departed from Cape Town just a month ago.

The team aboard the ship was extremely surprised at what good condition the ship was. It has been missing for the past 100 years thus far. This is since 1914 when captain Ernest Shackleton rode the ship.

“The wreck is coherent, in an astonishing state of preservation. The Antarctic seabed does not have any wood-eating micro-organisms, the water has the clarity of distilled water.

Endurance22 team do not wish to tamper with the ship

While this is an exceptional achievement, the team that was funded by an anonymous donor did not wish to tamper with the ship as reported by The Guardian. The ship that was operated by captain Ernest Shackleton has been in search for a long time.

At the time of the wreckage, all of the crew members survived and were a huge spectacle around the world. Three crew members, including captain Ernest Shackleton, left the rest of the crew in search of help and were rescued five months later.

The crew aboard the Endurance ship was said to undergo very bad weather and rough waters during their suspenseful time to stay alive. Captain Ernest Shackleton was immensely recognized for this effort in keeping his crew members alive.
