The “Where U?” workshops and why participants say they work

Over the past 18 months, a growing number of business owners have started moving away from online marketing agencies and towards building lead generation capability in-house. Rising costs, inconsistent outcomes, and limited visibility over performance have made many founders less willing to outsource something as critical as customer acquisition, especially when they can’t clearly identify what is driving results.

One program benefiting from this shift is “Where U?”, a two-day in-person lead generation workshop that teaches Australian business owners how to build their own acquisition systems using Meta and Google Ads. The workshop positions itself as a system-building experience designed to transfer capability back into the business, rather than operating as a traditional outsourced agency service.

A workshop model built around building campaigns in the room

Unlike many marketing courses that focus on theory, “Where U?” is structured around implementation. ads built during the session and the team moving around the room to assist participants directly.

That “done-with-you” approach is central to the workshop’s positioning. Instead of leaving business owners with information they still need to apply later, the workshop is designed to reduce the gap between learning and execution by supporting campaign build-out and troubleshooting in real time.

Six months of support after the workshop

“Where U?” places strong emphasis on what happens after the workshop finishes, framing follow-up support as a core part of the value proposition rather than an optional add-on.

For six months following the event, participants receive continued support through a Skool community and frequent Zoom advisory calls. The program describes multiple advisory sessions daily, sometimes running up to eight calls per day. Business owners are able to join calls, share screens, and receive hands-on help from a team member to solve problems as they arise.

In some cases, the support is positioned as highly practical, including direct troubleshooting where team members can guide participants through fixes inside their accounts. This addresses a common challenge in business education: owners often leave training motivated, but implementation stalls when real-world issues show up after launch.

How the model started: turning away “done-for-you” demand

The origin story behind Where U? reflects a broader shift in what many small businesses want from marketing providers.

Founder Brandon Willington has said the workshop model emerged after repeatedly turning away a large portion of prospective clients seeking done-for-you services. The reasoning was practical: for many early and mid-stage businesses, a full agency retainer may not be economical compared to learning the fundamentals and running a simpler lead generation system internally.

Rather than creating a generic online course, early demand grew from business owners who wanted to be shown the system directly. The model gained traction quickly, evolving into a structured two-day workshop supported by long-term follow-up and hands-on access.

Satisfaction and measurable participant feedback

Participant satisfaction has become a central part of “Where U?’s” growth narrative. The workshop reports an average Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 9.6, suggesting a consistently strong attendee experience and high likelihood of recommendation among participants.

Rather than relying solely on short-term claims, they position their outcomes through implementation support, structured systems, and measurable satisfaction indicators.

What this signals for Australian business growth

The rise of workshops does not necessarily signal the decline of marketing agencies but, for business owners seeking more control over growth, the direction is clear. Learning how acquisition works is becoming part of running a modern business, not just a marketing decision and Where U?’s growth suggests that more founders are choosing ownership over outsourcing.
