BoM radar: Sydney weather warning worsens as families get stranded

BoM radar detects what the weather will look like for NSW and so far, the weather has continued to worsen over the past few days. The rainfall has continued to pour with flash flooding continuing to worsen as the days go by.

BoM radar shows extreme weather conditions

Thus far, Sydney residents have been urged to secure their homes and leave as they may be stranded without water or electricity. Some residents, however, have decided to secure their homes and stay home while the floods continue to affect the city. The BoM radar is currently showing that the weather will not get better anytime soon.

About 500 000 people have been urged to evacuate their homes. This is in fear that the conditions of the floods may get worse. The BoM radar says floods at this time are estimated to be about  7 meters high. It may get higher if there is any more rainfall in the city.

Evacuating areas that may trap residents

Now, one family, two sisters, and their mother have been stranded on the roof of their homes for at least half of the night as the floodwaters were moving too fast. This made it difficult for them to be saved by the help around the area. The BoM radar will continue to issue out any updates.

According to 7News, support to those affected is currently underway. The commonwealth will give $434 million to help communities clean up the flood damage. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has also expressed plans for projects in Queensland to help with recovery efforts. So hopefully the BoM radar will have more good news soon.

On Friday the 4th March, all schools will be closed as the BoM radar detects the weather is set to be unstable for the next 24 to 48 hrs. So far, 62 million in funds have been provided in the disaster funds with more expected to be given.
