The two baby marmosets that were kidnapped from an Australian zoo over the weekend have been recovered. Two brothers apparently involved in the theft have pleaded guilty.
Brothers Jesse and Jackson George were on Sunday found in posession of the youngest of the fragile little creatures while driving in Sydney.
Police say the theives broke in to Symbio Wildlife Park on Friday night and took a four-week-old baby (the one first found with the George brothers) as well as its 10-month old sister and adult father.
According to NSW police, the 10-month old marmoset has also been recovered but the adult is still missing. [UPDATE 29 NOV: The adult pygmy marmoset has also now been found alive and well]
The two brothers faced court on Monday where they both pleaded guilty.
Zoo keepers were in shock upon discovering the missing monkeys after their theft on Friday night. They feared expecially for the wellfare of the youngest, being just four-weeks old.
Upon the tiny monkey being reunited with its mother, zoo staff posted on Facebook: “Mum cradled the baby straight into her arms and bub immediately began to feed.”
