Raising funds for an Australian charity, father of three, Star Wars tragic and part-time Stormtrooper, Scott Loxley, is 18 months into a 15 000 km trek across Australia and is surviving it by grabbing some par-cooked , tenderised grub from the highway.
His journey has so far seen him walk 9,000km from Melbourne, across to Tasmania (we suspect he used a boat), through the Nullarbor Plain, up the west coast to Broome, before heading inland to Darwin.
He has even faced a sweltering 45-degree heatwave in his costume – we’s bet good money he’s sorry he didn’t choose to emulate Luke Skywalker’s far more practical Tatooine desert outfit instead.
So far, Loxley has managed to raise more than AUD$ 22,000 for the hospital of the AUD$ 100,000 he plans to raise before the hospital opens in 2016.
Loxley, a former soldier and member of the 501st Legion – a group of volunteers who are committed to children’s charities and raising funds by dressing up in Star Wars costumes.
According to mashable.com, the searing heat of the day sometimes creates a ready-made dinner by the side of the road, or he will take snakes and cable tie them to his trolley alive until they are ready to eat.
He added: “I put the lizards on the coals, put them in a zip lock bag for protein and snack on them on the road.”
“If you think you can walk in the country, this is what you need to do. It was one of the reasons I thought I could do it.”
Loxley met with Darwin’s ‘Chopper’ a 5.5 metre crocodile Crocosaurus Cove.
