While Australian bricks and mortar retail has been struggling, suffering one of it’s weakest Christmas sales periods in a decade, Australians are flocking online to find bargains. The online retailers continue to be competitive as more and more of the international heavy retailers are shipping to Australia and shoppers are loving the bargains that they can find online. In particular, the arrival of Amazon has been an exciting addition the retail space and has many retailers working on ways to stay relevant and appealing to customers.
Amazon is somewhat of a behemoth, with the number of employees working for Amazon now rivalling the population of small companies. The huge range and easy to navigate website, with quick delivery options has meant that for many Americans the  Amazon is now their automatic starting point when they need to make any purchases, from nappies to a new TV. Australian consumers are excited by the idea that they will soon be able to take advantage of the Amazon range and get some of their favourite items delivered straight to the door for less.

In fact, when asked why they like to shop online Australians point to the convenience of being able to shop from a wide range of store and compare prices and ranges from their comfort of their home as a huge benefit, especially with timely delivery options. Customers outside the main major metro cities have traditionally had a hard time accessing a large range of items and have faced lengthy and pricey delivery options, but that has all changed since online shopping became more wide spread. Additionally now consumers find that it is easier to save money online as they can compare sites and can even search for discount codes to help them save even more online.

These days many budget savvy gift givers are opting to give their giftees vouchers to their favourite stores, so that that can head online after the Christmas rush has subsides and pick up their favourite gifts for less. Buying with Plusvouchercode’s Amazon discount code it’s easier than what you may be thinking: this is the portal’s main aim, to let you save in an easy and quick way.

While this can be more challenging when people aren’t that familiar with their gift recipients desires, choosing a neutral option like a Paypal or prepaid Visa debit, or a voucher to a broad based retailer like Amazon, can be a great way to ensure that the person can buy exactly the gift that they want, for the best possible price.

One of the advantages that Australians have when they shop online, is that the Australian consumer is offseason compared to the Northern Hemisphere. That means that the post Christmas shopping period can be a great time to pick up a new swimsuit or pair of designer sandals with most of the Northern Hemisphere shivering through winter and focusing on find great prices on coats and boots.

Shopping online also opens up a wide range of retailers that may not have much of a footprint in Australia. It can be easy to find niche items online and these can often be found cheaper online that consumer would end up paying in local department stores. It pays to be careful when looking for any electronic items though, as both American and European power supplies use a different plug shape to the standard Australian plug.
