Astro, Founding Member Of Reggae Group UB4O Dies At 64

Astro, formally known as Terence Wilson died after suffering a short illness. Wilson was 64 years old.

The popular reggae artist was best known as the ‘toaster’ and played a big role in the vocals and lyrical genius.

During a time of racial inequality, the group aimed to be the voice to the injustices faced by men of color in a world where whiteness was better than anything else.

After facing some financial difficulties with the group, Astro decided to leave the group. He would then pair up with a former keyboardist from the group and re-enter the music scene as a reinvented version of UB40.

Astro has been a part of the UB40 group for over 3 decades that formed in the year 1980. The group is best known for its popular hits ‘Red Red Wine’ and ‘Can’t help falling in love’.

Astro and Brian passes on

In the months preceding his death, the Founder of the group Brian Travers passed on due to a cancer battle. The exact cause of Astro’s death has not yet been confirmed.

Another group member, Brian Traverse underwent two surgeries to remove a brain tumor and was said to undergo another surgery earlier this year. His battle with cancer, unfortunately, ended in August this year. Brian was 62 years old.

Among other things, fans are truly saddened by the loss of these legends and took to Twitter to express their best wishes.

The successful Reggae group first took off in 1980 in Birmingham, London, and has remained a huge influence in the world of Reggae music. Music that expressed a struggle experienced by men of color.

In 2022, Terence and a band member were set to go on tour.
