William Hurt dies aged 71 a week before his 72nd birthday

William Hurt was popular among many other actors and actresses. He was known to be in relationships with some of the most elite women in his day. 

In his younger days, William had found himself playing small roles before he eventually picked up his first big role on screen. Some of which had earned him an Oscar nomination. 

William Hurt died peacefully amongst his family

According to a statement released by his son, William Hurt died of natural causes amongst his family. He also added that his father had died peacefully. 

In 2018, William was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer and has dealt with it ever since. Sadly, his death comes just one week before his 72nd birthday. 

Tributes pour in for the late actor

Since this announcement, many have taken to social media to share their condolences. As well as share what a great person William Hurt was. One actor remembered how lovely it was to work with him on set and shared that he admired his commitment and drive towards his work. 

“R.I.P. William Hurt. So sad to hear this news. Working with him on Broadcast News was amazing. He will be greatly missed.”

Albert Brooks

While William Hurt may be gone, his memory is not lost as he is remembered for his most recent roles in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. 

He starred in films such as The Hulk in 2008 where he played General Thaddeus Ross and would go on to appear in Captain America: Civil war, Blck Widow, and Avengers Endgame.

According to The Guardian, William Hurt’s previous partner Marlee Matlin opened up about physical and emotional abuse experienced by William in her memoir.  William responded that he apologizes for any pain he has caused. 

“I did and do apologize for any pain I caused.”
