On an unrestricted road in the Australian Outback where speeds are unlimited, New Zealand race car diver Craig Baird took Porsche’s latest hybrid sports car for a quick spin.
A sign on Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory indicates the start of the “Open Speed Zone”. It is here that the Porsche 918 Spyder hybrid with its 4.6L V8 engine can freely accelerate to a whopping 350km/h.
The road stretches 204km north of Alice Springs to just below Barrow Cree.
While this video will make any Porsche enthusiast drool, sadly no one will be getting their hands on the luxury vehicle anytime soon as the first 918 models have already sold out.
