Thierry Mugler has made quite an impact on the fashion industry. He started pursuing his passion as early as 20-years-old and has left an imprint since.

Since starting out in the fashion industry, Thierry Mugler knew how to get attention to his work. Interestingly, his sense of style did not revolve around fashion trends or references to past fashion trends. He made his own and people loved him for that.

Thierry Mugler in fashion

In 1970, Thierry Mugler would find his first label named after himself. In 1977, he sold the rights to his name to Clarins. This did not, however, mean the end of his career in fashion. While he retired from the fashion industry in the early 2000s his name was still widely known.

During his successful career, Thierry Mugler had more than one interest that essentially tied into one full passion. That is, exploring the self and its endless possibilities. With a background in dance and theatre, Mugler found it easy to create pieces that were meaningful to him. At the time, his talents in design have not been praised by everyone of course, but enough to keep making a living out of it.

Thierry Mugler’s designs were very much exaggerated and have always tended to reimagine what the body could look like through corset designs and puffed sleeves. As mentioned before, Thierry Mugler never gave up on fashion as it was part of his whole being. In an interview, Thierry Mugler expressed how he was always fascinated with the body and what it could be.

Mugler’s other life aspirations

Mugler was very active in bodybuilding and had some plastic surgery here and there to enhance his body. This he showed off in a nude photoshoot.

So, Thierry Mugler made an impact in fashion through his free nature to explore the body and its endless possibilities but he also helped some of the industry’s biggest names to pull off looks that would have people talking.

Some of his works include Kim Kardashian’s wet look at the 2019 Met Gala and Lady Gaga’s show-stopping entrance in an egg. While we know Lady Gaga is best known for making an entrance, the pair would make a good team at pulling off what would be the talk of the century.

Thierry Mugler’s death comes days after the death of Andre Leon Talley. Both of them were aged 73. The details of Mugler’s funeral are yet to be announced.
