The Cat Empire’s newly announced tour includes a few extra cities being added to the band’s usual UK sojourn – including a return trip to Edinburgh, where an epic 16-night stint at the Edinburgh Festival all those years ago sparked a long European love affair for the band’s ability to turn every gig into one huge party.

Spreading the Empire

This is a band that makes music that people want to dance. Music lovers from all over the world discovered The Cat Empire at “that” festival, spreading the Empire gospel worldwide.

During their UK tour, the band will play a mix of their hits, and tracks from their brand new album, set for release in March 2016. With the title still to be announced.

New single has teeth

The second single off the new album comes via the brand new single ‘Wolves’, which will be released January 2016 in the UK, and this time around the Empire are adding to their eclectic music recipe, mixing in Caribbean drums with disco synth.

Recorded in Melbourne, and produced by long-time friend Jan Skubiszewski, this latest single bears all the best trademarks of The Cat Empire; an infectious groove, and beats that lead you straight to the dance floor.

“’Wolves’ is one of the most unique songs we’ve ever released,” explains frontman Felix Riebl.

“It’s got a Caribbean disco edge, with an African-sounding melodic hook played on a (broken) toy synthesiser, and a dance anthem chorus.

“It’s quite chaotic, about running away from any kind of boring situation.”

A brand new video now accompanies the single, shot in the band’s old haunt of Collingwood (a suburb of Melbourne), featuring local dancer Samantha Bruzzese.

Like the song, the clip for ‘Wolves’ is all about escapism, and about using music, especially that of The Cat Empire, to escape the every day.

THE CAT EMPIRE’S 2016 UK TOUR starts 30 March in Brighton, finishing 15 April in London.
