Pride Month: When and why the LGBTQ+ community is celebrated

Pride Month is much more significant this year as the LGBTQ community celebrates 50 years of celebrating their sexuality. After many years of being their authentic selves, the LGBTQ community still faces some struggles.

LGBTQ community celebrates pride month

This month, June is extra special. This is because it commemorates 50 years from when the LGBTQ community stood up to policemen.

So far, this month will commemorate the Stonewall riots in which policemen raided a gay bar in the US. This time though, the gay men did not allow this to happen again and fought back.

At the end of the day, the police needed to barricade themselves from the individuals in the bar. After that, the gay individuals started protesting for a few days in aid of their rights.

Owning sexuality

Right now, the US has faced a myriad of issues. Now, as it has been 50 years, many would think that the world would evolve. But, this is not the case.

Thus far, former President Barack Obama has declared June as a month for the LGBTQ. Not only is it celebrated in the US but all around the world.
