Lizzo under fire for a derogatory term in new single Grrrls

Lizzo is best known for standing up for those who have been marginalized in any way. This time around, fans are not as thrilled about her new song Grrrls.

Fans call out Lizzo for insensitive lyrics

Thus far, many with Cerebal palsy have called Lizzo out for using a derogatory term that would otherwise refer to this disability. Fans are now calling for the star to remove it from her song.

Right now, many singers have had to remove lyrics from their songs as a response to a sensitive issue regarding the public. So far, Lady Gaga has removed lyrics about R.Kelly after news came about his sexual abuse conviction.

To date, some feel that Lizzo’s lyrics do not compare to the cerebral palsy disease as her lyrics insinuate that a person is out of control and not in any way compared to a person who cannot move properly.

Discriminating against people with cerebral palsy

So far, Lizzo has not responded for comments about the newly released song. Her producers have also been contacted about the song after fans found it insensitive.

Currently, it seems the song Lizzo released might have caused much damage. After many have already made Tik Toks with the song. Most of these people are teenagers at that.

It is through this that people feel the damage has already been done. According to BBC, her song Grrrls can certainly be re-released after other artists have done so in the past.

Previously, Lizzo released her hit song About Damn Time which was very well received by the public as it encouraged good mental health and body positivity. Right now, it seems the star needs to take a rain check on her lyrics.
