Ben Harper live in London this month (and an incredible life in numbers)

Ben Harper, beloved troubadour and protagonist for a better planet, is back in London Town this month.

Harper and his old-time cohorts The Innocent Criminals are set to rock the Brixton Academy on October 26th, in what is sure to be an amazing celebration of community and music.

Number crunching Ben Harper

47) Just two days after the show in London, Ben will turn 47 years young. So be sure to get involved in a big sing-a-long of Happy Birthday if you are at the Brixton gig.

4+3) Ben has four kids, one wife (Jaclyn Matfus), and two ex-wives including actress Laura Dern.

At least 2) In Ben Harper’s garage you’ll find at least two boards… one for water and one for the pavement. Ben’s hobbies include skateboarding and surfing. He’s part owner of skateboarding brand Roller Horror and is a board member of the Tony Hawk Foundation, which provides boards to under-privileged kids. Rad!

19 cameras) Harper is prolific social activist. He has made 19 appearances in documentaries, including featuring as a narrator on celebrated surf flick Whitewash, a film focusing on the life and times of black surfers from America and Jamaica.

32 and 2010) Apart from appearing on screen, Ben has added his sounds to 32 soundtracks. His song “Glory & Consequence” was featured in the 2010 film, The Fighter.

13 including 7) When not busy saving the world, he does what’s made him famous – making killer music. To date he’s recorded 13 studio albums, either as a solo artist or with various collaborators including Charlie Musselwhite, Relentless7 and of course The Innocent Criminals. He is also has a bunch of awesome live albums to his credit.

3 dogs with gramophones) Three Grammy awards grace Mr Harper’s mantlepiece: Best Pop Instrumental Performance for ’11th Commandment’, Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album for ‘There Will Be Light’, and Best Blues Album for ‘Get Up!’.
