AUSTRALIA DAY | ‘The Castle Quote Along’ screening

“My name is Dale Kerrigan, and this is my story.”

And so begins the quintessential Australian film, The Castle. A film made on a budget of $19,000 and filmed in 11 days, yet which earned over $10 million at the box office.

The story of a working class family who refuse to accept the compulsory acquisition of their house is one all Aussies are now familiar with, and its dialogue has entered the modern vernacular – still quoted from the schoolyard to the boardroom.

“Tell em’ he’s dreamin,’” you might say if someone presented you with a ludicrous suggestion.

“Dale dug a hole,” could be used to acknowledge an achievement.

And “How’s the serenity” is perfect for those times when fronted with a sight of natural beauty. Like a view of powerlines.

This Australia Day relive all your favourite quotes, and introduce your UK friends to a piece of Aussie history, when the boys from Bogan Bingo present ‘The Castle Quote Along’ at Riverside Studios Cinema.

On Saturday 26 January from 3pm, the Bogan Bingo boys will be hosting this special Australia Day screening of our favourite film. Come along for a slice of Australiana on the big screen, a few beers and what they promise to be an ‘interactive cinematic experience’.

With dress code ‘Kerrigan chic’ and prizes for the best dressed, this promises to be a little slice of 90s Australian heaven, right in the heart of Hammersmith.

If that isn’t enough, there will also be Aussie snacks on sale. The long list of available goodies includes old favourites like Cherry Ripes, Cheezles, Mint Slices, Redskins, Jaffas, Twisties, Pizza Shapes, Freckles, Chocolate Teddy Bears, Tiny Teddies, Burger Rings, Iced Vo-Vos, Fantales, Violet Crumbles, Caramello Koalas and Smiths Chip.

Earlybird tickets are £8 and available from facebook.com/boganbingouk.
