GRAMMY nominations have been announced in the US, and Australian artist Gotye has picked up three nominations, including for the prestigious Record of the Year.

Since becoming an internationally recognized name thanks to his hit duet Somebody That I Used To Know with New Zealand born Kimbra, Gotye has slowly but surely been building his award collection.

At the ARIA awards last week in Australia, Gotye pick up four awards, including Album of the Year and Best male Artist with his album Making Mirrors.

The nomination of this album for the Grammy’s Record of the Year marks the first time since 1975 that an Australian artist has been nominated in this category. Olivia Newton-John won the award for her album Have You Never Been Mellow.

In addition to Record of the Year, Gotye is contesting Best Pop Duo/Group with Somebody That I Used to Know. It is a song that has sold more than 10 million units worldwide and received critical acclaim.
