What to do in London the day before Australia Day 2014

AUSTRALIA DAY | Have you ever misread the date on an invitation and turned up to a party a day early? It's embarrassing and awkward all at the same time. Well don't worry if it happens on the Australia Day weekend as there will be plenty going on around London ahead of the big day.

BECAUSE Australia Day this year is on a Sunday (what a drainer) get the party started early with these events planned for the Saturday before.

Australia Day Weekender @ Clapham Grand

The Clapham Grand is going to put a smile on your Australian face one way or another. You can sit back, relax and admire the serenity as you watch the best in Aussie film-making with a special screening of The Castle. This will be followed by a line-up of award winning Australian comedians including Colin Cole, Benny Boot and Felicity Ward hitting the stage. And then the club night will kick off with DJs playing all the best party tunes and Triple J’s Hottest 100. With Aussie drink specials all night, if you’re not smiling there’s probably something wrong with you.

Date: Saturday 25th January
Time: Doors open 5pm, movie 5.30pm, comedy show 8pm, club night 10pm

Jetlag Bar

Live music and classic Aussie tucker are on the cards at Jetlag this Australia Day Eve. Celebrate being Australian (even if you aren’t) to the sounds of rock covers band Punching Preachers, and Triple J’s countdown of the Top 100 of 2013. Also available on the night will be Jetlag’s special surf n’ turf menu of kangaroo steak, crab and lobster sliders, steak pie and pavlova. You can wash it all down with Jetlag’s excellent range of Aussie beers and wine.
