Nominations now open for the Qantas Australian Woman of the Year in the UK 2015

The Qantas award recognises outstanding achievements of Australian women in the UK who are excelling in business, the arts, science, government, the community and sport.

Presented by Australian Business in London each year, the award celebrates women who are building successful careers spanning Australia and the UK and contribute towards the positive relationship between the two nations.

Previous winners have included Spring restaurant chef Skye Gyngell, video game studio director Siobhan Reddy, theatre producer Liz Koops and Ashurst LLP’s global head of pro bono Sarah Morton-Ramwell.

The Australian High Commission in London is a partner in the award. High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, the Hon Alexander Downer AC, said the award has acknowledged outstanding Australian women in the UK since 2008. “Australia’s relationship with the UK is built on strong people-to-people links. This award recognises the impressive women who are forging their careers and lives across our two great nations and the important role they play in the bilateral relationship.”

Qantas Regional General Manager for the UK and Europe, Eric Jelinek, explains the airline is a proud to again support the award. “We are honoured to be involved with this important award and to recognise the inspiring contribution Australian women have made in the UK across many fields – including science, the arts, law, business and community. We look forward to hearing about the projects and expertise of the 2015 nominees and the exciting work each are doing to further strengthen the broader community and the relationship between the two countries.”

Australian Business has organised the award since its inception eight years ago. Managing Director, Catherine Batterby, says “We strongly encourage supporters of the Australian business community in the UK to nominate an outstanding Australian woman who is a leader in their field and a great representative for our nation”.

Nominations close at 5pm on Saturday 30 June 2015.

The winner will be announced at a reception at Australia House on 9 September.
