Finding the local pub, restaurant and shopping centre is a piece of cake, but when it comes to finding that one hair or beauty salon, it can be rather difficult. Before picking the first 5-star salon you see pop up on TripAdvisor, doing some research would be advisable. Here’s a list of things you should take into consideration before deciding on the perfect salon for you.
Active on social media
Before you decide on visiting the first salon you come across, do some research! If you’ve come across a salon that has piqued your interest, look up their Facebook or Instagram pages. If the salon lacks these two pages, it may be a warning sign that the business does not pay much attention to marketing and getting their name out. Most salons that provide amazing hair & beauty transformations want to share their work and talent with the world, that is why you should think twice about visiting a salon that hasn’t added a post in few years.
Inactivity on social media pages may be caused by a number of factors, such as a change in management, lack of time, a drop in work quality, or the salon has simply gone out of business. Either way, it may not be worth taking the risk!
So you’ve found yourself an awesome salon – which provides an array of amazing services, has awesome before and after shots and looks great, but you’ve been calling them for the past 30 minutes and all you hear is a busy tone. You may be a bit upset since you’d like to book a service, so you go to the salon in person, only to be greeted by a sign that reads “lunch break, back in 20”.
Eventually, the salon team arrives, you ask to book your service and they let you know that they’re fully booked, including the time and date that interests you. You’ve not only wasted a significant amount of time, but you still haven’t booked your service. This is not only infuriating for the consumer, but it gives the business a bad reputation as well. However, beauty businesses are turning to modern solutions, such as online booking, which allows clients to book any available time slots 24/7. In order to tell if a salon offers online booking, visit their Facebook, Instagram or website and look for a “Book now” button.
Finalize your decision with client reviews
Reviews pages, such as TripAdvisor, like any social media platform, let users from all over the world communicate with one another and share experiences they’ve had with various businesses. It’s the perfect place to find reviews on the best restaurant, shop, hotel or salon in town. However, bear in mind that you should not decide on a business simply for its 5-star reviews – as these reviews may have been posted a few months or even years earlier and you cannot be sure if the business offers an online booking option for your convenience. Imagine visiting a 5-star salon, only to wait in line for your booking, having to pay a significant amount of money for a treatment that you could have had at a smaller salon and for a smaller fee. That is why when doing your research take into account all of the information you find on a given salon.
