Water, phone, gas and electricity are usually billed quarterly. They can be tricky to arrange, so try to take on the previous tenant’s phone number and get their utilities transferred into your name. Also, take down meter readings and the previous tenants’ new contact details to avoid their outstanding bills being charged to you. Phone the utility companies for an up-to-date tally of how much is owed in the billing quarter so far.
