It is well-known that many actors and singers have stage names because their real names are sort of ordinary and mundane. Almost all the celebrities, whose parents have not been kind to them while naming them, undergo a name change to get a self-chosen identity!

For now, let us take a look at the celebrities who changed their names, from Drake to Gigi Hadid:

1. Peter Gene Hernandez – Guess who?

If this name sounds like a Mexican who has successfully evaded US authorities by crossing the border, that is because it does. Well then, why don’t you say my name. Do you know who I am? You guessed it right Peter Gene Hernandez is none other than the famous singer Bruno Mars. Bruno was a pet name given to him by his father because he was chubby as a child and resembled the wrestler Bruno Sammartino. Those of you who know that this wrestler existed, then kudos to you.

2. Sasha Obama

Yes, Former President Barack Obama’s daughter’s real name is not Sasha. It was originally Natasha but she is now known as Sasha, which has sort of contributed to becoming her fierce identity! The news went viral when someone noticed the mention of Natasha on Barack Obama’s Wikipedia page. Full points to her!

3. Rachael Meghan Markle

Yes, you have heard us right. Prince Harry’s wife and ace actor Meghan Markle uses the name Rachael just like her character in the TV show Suits because it is her real name. Meghan is her middle name, and she prefers using that in public instead of Rachael. Wonder why? Guess we’ll never know!

4. Michael Caine

Michael Caine was known as Maurice Micklewhite. No prize for guessing why Michael Caine changed his name. He went on to become one of the most successful actors in English history that he ended up applying at a UK deed poll office and legally changed his name to Michael Caine to avoid problems at the airport.

5. Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn, the daughter of a Dutch noblewoman, had a birth name called Kathleen Ruston but baptised as Edda Kathleen Hepburn-Ruston. Her professional name is way sexier than her real name, and that is big enough a reason for a name change. We don’t have any complaints.

7. Marilyn Monroe

Almost everyone knows that Marilyn Monroe was named Norma Jene Mortenson, and she was born a brunette. Apart from being a fantastic actor, here’s some trivia about her name change – it was an executive on Broadway who changed her name to Marilyn because she reminded him of a Broadway actress Marilyn Miller.

And the name stuck! Be open to these opportunities in life and who knows? Maybe you’ll have a fancy name that the world will know you for, too!

8. Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel, popularly known for being fast and furious was originally named Mark Sinclair. It is interesting to note that he did not come up with the name because of his acting ambitions. Vin Diesel came into being when he was a bouncer at a nightclub in New York City.

If you think about it, his name does sound like a tough guy’s name, doesn’t it?
