Why SEO services must keep up with internet trends

SEO services are a vital part of bringing targeted traffic to websites. Ultimately, the goal of every website is to generate revenue, either directly or indirectly.

The amount of revenue generated by a website depends not only on the volume of traffic to that website but also the quality of traffic to your website.

Typically, when SEO services deliver increased targeted traffic, this will lead to increased revenue, while a fall in targeted traffic will inevitably lead to a fall in revenue.

The number of Australians using the Internet is on a continuous upward trend. Likewise, the number of purchases made online by Australians is increasing steadily. However, the ways in which Australians are using the Internet, and the types of services they use, are changing, present new challenges to both local and national SEO services.  Below I discuss the smartphone and social media challenges that must be overcome in order for your business to have a successful marketing campaign.

Smartphones:

Companies that provide SEO services must be aware that more and more Australians are buying smartphones and using them to access the Internet. According to Australian marketing research specialists, in the first quarter of 2013, 65% of Australians used smartphones. That is a huge target market for SEO services. That number is almost double the figure for the same period in 2011, when only 37% used smartphones. And every smartphone user had used the device daily in the 7 days prior to the research date.

One of the most telling statistics about smartphone popularity, and the importance of the technology to SEO services from Nielsen, is that 29% of Australians would sooner do without television than their smartphones. 58% of Australians use their smartphones daily to do Internet searches. 81% of smartphone users visit social networks via their phones.

It is clear that this trend will continue upwards for some time. Experts who thought that tablets would eat into the smartphone market have been proven wrong. Website owners must remember to work with their SEO services to adjust to these trends. This may mean major redesigns of websites to cater for the smaller smartphone display.

Social Networks:

The Battle for the Premier League’s Fifth Champions League Spot: Who Will Prevail?

The rise and fall of social networks has been spectacular. Myspace and Bebo grew rapidly and then fell out of favour with users almost overnight. Facebook has also seen spectacular growth, as has Twitter. Recently, Instagram has begun to attract huge numbers of users.

The demographic using these social network sites is also changing. Once popular only amongst the younger generations, they increasingly attract people in the 50+ age bracket. In fact, over 34% of Australian Internet visitors to the 10 most popular websites are in this age group.

The message is clear. More SEO services must continually monitor trends if SEO campaigns are to deliver quality traffic.
