Vivienne Hill – Assistant News Editor
Vivienne arrived in London in 2009 to satisfy her desire to see the world and have a crack at a career that was actually related to her university degree. Oh, and to get to as many music festivals as possible before her visa (or money) ran out.
Home town in Australia
The Gold Coast: surfing capital of Australia, but also, the “Essex” of Australia.
Home in the UK
Clapham Common
Past and present experience
Previously a contributor for music magazines Tsunami Magazine, Brisbane and The Place Magazine, North Queensland. Also had previous radio stints on Radio Metro and Life FM on the Gold Coast.
My top Australian Times moments
Witnessing Xavier Rudd stage dive into the audience at Shepherd’s Bush and John Butler telling me about his hat fetish.
Favourite Aussie:
TV show: We Can Be Heroes and The Chasers War On Everything
Sports star: Stephanie Gilmore
Music: Sia, The Temper Trap and PNAU, but there are so many more.
Snack: Meat pie
What I miss most about home
The weather
My nugget of golden advice for surviving the UK
Take the bus. It may take longer but you see more of the city, it’s cheaper, you almost always get a seat and you don’t have sweaty freaks rubbing up against you as the doors close.
