Capita Education Resourcing can help Australian teachers
Australian teachers have always been popular with UK schools, which is why Capita Education Resourcing is very keen to recruit teachers from Australia for day-to-day and long-term placements in the UK.
Antipodeans do not find it difficult to transfer their teaching skills to UK schools; the curriculum is very similar and most teachers hit the ground running when they attend their first assignment.
Some inner city schools can be challenging, others less so, but even a challenging environment can be enriching for a teacher with the correct support. We have many overseas teachers who are really enjoying their experience in this type of school.
Our website www.capitaeducation.co.uk is a good starting place for overseas candidates to make contact.
Your Teaching CV
As always, a candidate’s CV is a very important document. It should be brief and to the point – often overseas candidates feel more inclined to wade into too much detail about their life history!
A CV should be written in chronological order and the recruiter should be able to clearly identify the following information – perhaps included as headings which you can then expand upon:
- Personal details
- Education Qualifications
- Professional Qualifications
- Training
- Work Experience
- Major achievements
- Other experiences
- Hobbies and interests
- Referee details and summary
Candidate selection
If we think a candidate is suitable, we reply via email to establish an arrival date and location; we have two offices in London and 16 others throughout the UK.
The candidate is assigned a dedicated consultant, specialising in their discipline who has experience placing overseas teachers in schools. This contact guides the candidate through the vetting process.
Registration, references and police check
At some point overseas teachers must register with the General Teaching Council, and an application form can be downloaded from their website.
Candidates must also apply online for the UK Criminal Records Bureau police clearance. This can take time to process and is best done at least two months before arrival in the UK.
We also require two recent teaching references which we request via email usually form the school or university attended.
Once in the UK, candidates attend a formal interview where they must bring original or notarised copies of teaching qualifications as well as an original Australian Police clearance document.
