Cocky England cricket team set for a fall says Shane Warne

Shane Warne says the cocky England cricket team is set for a fall in the five-match one-day series against Australia starting Friday at Lord’s.

SHANE WARNE accused the England cricket team of being over-confident and predicted Australia to win their five-match one-day series starting on Friday at Lord’s.

England enter the series brimming with confidence on the back of six straight one-day series wins on home soil.

But Warne thought the touring side would fire an early warning shot before next year’s Ashes series.

“A few former England players and commentators on the game don’t think Australia have any bowlers and are a batsman or two short; combine that with England’s current form and record in England at present and it equals a walk-over when they resume battle on Friday,” Warne said in London’s The Daily Telegraph.

“We know the public line from the England camp will be, `We won’t take Australia for granted’, but deep down there will be a feeling of superiority.

“I just sense they might under-estimate this Australia team of young players.

“I also believe this Australian team will give England something to think about before the Ashes next summer in England.”

Warne expected Australia to continue their resurgence under the leadership of his good mate Michael Clarke.

“This is a big series for the psychological mindset of both teams but it is not a real indication of who is going to win the Ashes, as both teams could have new personnel, and injuries may hit, but any chance you get to beat the opposition is an advantage,” he said. – AAP
