Walkabout Temple closes for a facelift
Walkabout Temple, London City’s Aussie drinking and sports viewing mecca, is currently undergoing an £800,000 refurbishment to transform the iconic venue into London’s best sports, live music and party bar, just in time for Australia Day.

WALKABOUT TEMPLE is closed this week to undergo a major facelift. Just like Shane Warne nabbing Liz Hurley with his ‘new look’, the people behind the Thames-side bar promise big things for the new look Temple Walkie.
The venue shut its doors last week to commence the £800,000 renovation. All will be revealed when the new look Walkabout Temple re-opens the doors on Wednesday 25 January, ahead of Australia Day celebrations on Thursday 26 January.
Work was being carried out at a frantic pace when Australian Times popped in for a sticky beak this week. The venue’s general manager Chris Hancock told us, “Everything is on schedule and we can’t wait to show it off at the re-opening next week. It really is going to wow you.”
The refurb aims to establish the venue as the Walkabout group’s flagship venue. So they’re going all out, installing a new stage for live acts, additional bars, new seating areas overlooking the dance floor, a pop-up restaurant for large sporting events and a full up-date of the famous Walkabout brand. The second part of the bar (the lesser known backroom) will become the new Temple Beach Club room where London revellers can experience cool tracks and exotic new cocktails.

Hancock says the refurbishment of the venue has created 30 new jobs including a full sales team and “cocktail mixoligists who are currently in training for what is set to be a very busy few weeks for this 900-capacity landmark London venue”.
The Walkabout Temple officially re-opens on Wednesday 25 January, with Australia Day celebrations taking place on 26 January, followed by three huge launch parties which they are inviting everyone to be a VIP guest at.

There’s also a very special treat for Aussie music lovers on Tuesday 31 January, with Grinspoon duo Phil Jamieson and Pat Davern performing a live acoustic set.
