AUSTRALIAN actress Mia Wasikowska is among a cast of 11 women touted as Hollywood’s new leading ladies in an upcoming edition of Vanity Fair magazine.
Canberra-born Wasikowska, 22, has found global acclaim for her role opposite Michael Fassbender in the 2011 film Jane Eyre, as well as US cable television network HBO’s series, In Treatment.
Dressed in a shimmering green evening gown, her short blonde hair swept back, Wasikowska is on the cover of the magazine’s March issue, surrounded by other starlets including Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Jennifer Lawrence (X-Men: First Class), and best supporting actress Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain.
All 11 women are dressed as 1920s sirens for the art deco-style photo shoot by photographer Mario Testino, Britain’s Evening Standard newspaper reported.
While Alice In Wonderland star Wasikowska missed out on an Oscar nomination for her role in Jane Eyre, she attracted the praise of big name Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep.
After winning a Golden Globe in mid-January Streep used her acceptance speech to remind the world about Wasikowska’s performance as Jane Eyre in the new adaptation of the classic Charlotte Bronte novel. - AAP
