LONDON’S legendary members club, Chinawhite, will open its doors to the world’s greatest athletes during the Olympics period and it’s all because of an Australian company. The exclusive London nightclub have joined in a partnership with Australia’s ‘The Last Lap’, the exclusive athlete and sports personality event concept.
Set up and run by an Australian company, members of the current Australian Olympic Team are already chomping at the bit to get in and let their hair down.
“The club will welcome some of the biggest names from the sporting world to relax after competing for their countries, in the luxurious setting of London’s Chinawhite,” a Last Lap spokesperson told Australian Times.
“Each evening will incorporate high profile musical entertainment, including live DJ sets from some of the biggest names in the business including Pete Tong and Paul Oakenfold. All events will be specifically designed to provide the world’s top athletes with the perfect environment to toast their achievements.”
Five-time Olympic swimmer and Team GB flagbearer in Beijing Mark Foster commented: “What I loved about The Last Lap in Sydney was that all the athletes from around the world knew it was THE party destination. It was an awesome place to get together with your teammates and athletes from other countries and party, night after night. The fact The Last Lap is run by an Olympian helps too as they know how to look after the athletes.”
The ‘Olympian’ in question is Australia’s Rob Woodhouse – a Los Angeles Olympics bronze medallist in the 400m Individual Medley swimming event.
“Athletes don’t want to think about celebrating until they finish their last race or event,” Woodhouse told Australian Times. “Then it’s party time, and they want to party in the heart of the city they’re in, to experience the local culture. We know the athletes and what they want, and with The Last Lap at Chinawhite we are once again providing the perfect party venue to celebrate in.”
Previous guests at The Last Lap events include Australian athletes Michael Klim, Eamon Sullivan, Susie O’Neill and Lauren Jackson alongside global stars including Nadia Comenici, Mark Spitz, Evander Holyfield, Mike Powell, Janet Evans and Ian Thorpe. And already some of this year’s crop of London 2012 Australian Olympians including Stephanie Rice and Alicia Coutts have signalled their intentions to be heading to the hotspot.
“This unique hospitality concept offers athletes, corporates and the public a late night party destination where they can enjoy an exclusive environment with premier entertainment. With dedicated athlete access, designated VIP rooms and media controlled zones, The Last Lap quickly became the hottest venue for the athletes during the Sydney Games and we’re sure it will do the same in London,” the spokesperson added.
