LADY GAGA has visited Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he is holed up over his bid to escape extradition to Sweden. The pop diva and fashion icon shared a private dinner with the WikiLeaks founder, according to reports. The singer spent almost five hours with Assange in the embassy. A photograph of the pair was later published on Lady Gaga’s website.

Lady Gaga’s surprise visit with Assange comes after  rapper M.I.A. tweeted that Gaga could visit the fugitive whistleblower while she was in London promoting her new perfume, Fame.

Julian Assange is wanted in Sweden for questioning on sex crimes allegations. The Australian citizen has sought political asylum in Ecuador though, in fear that he will be later extradited from Sweden to the US, where he has been labelled as a threat to national security by some politicians over his role with WikiLeaks.

Earlier this week, Assange indicated that he would pursue a defamation case against Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard for her labeling the WikiLeaks founder a criminal following the organisation’s release of the US Diplomatic Cables. Julian Assange has not been charged with any crime, in any country, relating to WikiLeaks activities.
