Qantas Downfall: Social media disaster spreads

#QantasLuxury is still the hottest trending topic on Twitter in Australia and has already been granted its own Hitler ‘Downfall’ video parody on YouTube.

A Qantas social media campaign continues to capture the Australian public’s imagination, but for all the wrong reasons.

The #QantasLuxury PR debacle shows no sign of abating.  It is still the hottest trending topic on Twitter in Australia and has already been granted its own Hitler ‘Downfall’ video parody on YouTube  – one of the surest online acknowledgments of a full blown disaster.

Utilising Twitter, under the hashtag #QantasLuxury, the promotion offered a luxury Qantas gift pack, including a set of svelte flying kangaroo pyjamas.

It was intended to help repair Qantas’s damaged relations with its customers over the ongoing industrial dispute between management and unions. Instead Twitter users pounced, turning it into the hottest trending Aussie Twitter joke of the day.
