Australian PM backs Black Caviar to take Royal Ascot
Acting Prime Minister Wayne Swan has wished Black Caviar well as the champion mare aims to show the world how good she is at Royal Ascot tomorrow.

IT’S no surprise, but Black Caviar’s attempt to become the queen of Ascot this weekend has many Australians enthralled, including the acting prime minister.
Treasurer Wayne Swan says he will be staying up late to watch the broadcast of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes in front of Queen Elizabeth at Royal Ascot on Saturday (3.45pm British time and about 12.45am Sunday AEST).
If the champion mare wins, as expected, it will keep her perfect record intact – 22 wins from 22 starts.
“There’s nothing better than watching an Aussie champ take on the world and win, so on behalf of all Australians we wish Black Caviar, (jockey) Luke Nolen and (trainer) Peter Moody and her connections all the best,” Mr Swan said.
Mr Swan has compared Black Caviar to Phar Lap.
“Her success has really revitalised horse racing, not only for lifelong fans like me, but for a whole new generation of young Australians.” – AAP
